I have 75 pages to go in this delightful novel. I'm planning to finish it tonight once my kiddo is in bed.

I love Alisha Rai's books. And when this new one was described as two exes racing through Vegas together to escape jewel thieves and crime bosses I knew it was going to be so much fun.

And it really is! I love that I get a bit of a suspense novel but I know it's okay for me to keep reading because it won't get too dark for me, there will be humour and spice, and there will be a satisfying happy ending.

I also love how in this book Alisha explores the expectations we put on ourselves and our family members and how pride and hurt can cause us to lose perspective.

I'm not even finished yet, and I highly recommend. 🩷

This is why I love what I do! I get to help people journey toward achieving their dreams.

My fabulous client Molly sent her query letter and first pages to an agent this morning and less than two hours later the agent asked to read the full manuscript.

Molly is one step closer to achieving her dream of being traditionally published.

Is that your dream too? Send me a DM to schedule a FREE call to chat about how I can help you on your journey.

I'm a romance writer and I work primarily on romance novels with my clients, so why am I reading a middle grade fantasy novel?

Because all reading, no matter what genre or type, helps me become a better writer, editor, and book coach.

Yes, romance is my favourite genre and reading within it or about it helps me understand it better.

But reading other books, like Inkheart, helps me learn other aspects of storytelling and writing craft. Characterization, character motivation, cause and effect, worldbuilding, mystery, and more are often done really, really well in books for younger readers. Those of us who write for adults can learn a lot from kidlit writers.

Plus, it's fun! Especially when a book like this comes recommended by a dear friend.

A book coach is a guide to the world of writing and publishing.

I will never claim to know everything, but I do know quite a bit about this weird industry. The writing community and the publishing industry can be really confusing.

Who's trustworthy? What's the normal process? How has that process changed or how is it changing? How does a book even get published? What are all the roles within this space and who does what?

As a book coach, I can guide you through this landscape, help you find the right resources and answers to your questions.

It's honestly one of my favourite parts about this job, other than getting to read your stories.

If you need help understanding the world of publishing, send me a DM and we can set up a free 20-minute chat to talk about how I can help.
