When a friend asks for book recommendations and if she can borrow books for her vacation, I have fun.

Here's hoping she likes these!

Hello hello lovelies!

The sun is shining and spring is hinting that it wants to make its appearance and I am all for it.

Spring is a time of newness and I have so much new happening this spring. I'm working on a blog post all about it.

Spring 2023 in the world of trishajennreads will bring:

๐ŸŒปNew services (they're already posted on my website, take a look!)
๐ŸŒปA newsletter
๐ŸŒปFree writing resources
๐ŸŒปSocial media content with writing and editing tips

I'm stoked to officially "relaunch" my editing biz as a book coaching biz for romance writers.

You've probably noticed the little changes I've been making lately. I'm shifting things around to better fit with my goals, my skills, and my time.

Book coaching is developmental editing plus project management plus encouragement and is super relationship focused. I am so excited about this new direction for my business and so ready to jump into projects with clients.

What questions should I add to my FAQ about book coaching?

I couldn't put this book down yesterday. It is so dang fun! And spicy. And fabulous.

I'm 53% through this book and so excited to see what happens.

Laundry may or may not happen today. ๐Ÿ˜†

I started reading this book last night and gosh, what a unique style! I am intrigued by the tone, the voice, the structure AND the story.

Have you read LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY? What did you think of it?

It's an exciting day!! It's pub day for my dear friend @brennabaileybooks debut romance novel.

This delightful, cozy, small town, sapphic romance is about two ladies in their seventies who have competing flower shops across the street from each other. It is summery and fun and I couldn't put it down.

Click the link in my profile to read an interview with Brenna about the book and what it was like to write it. You can also find links there to order your own copy.

Congratulations, Brenna! Happy, happy release day!! ๐Ÿ’›

I took myself on a little writing retreat last weekend. I booked a hotel for a couple of nights, wrote 2000 words, watched some videos on drafting styles and strategies, worked on my outline, and I read nearly this entire book.

It was delightful.

I have lots of ideas and goals and I'm excited to see what I accomplish this year in my reading, writing, and book coaching.

I finished this delightful book yesterday.

I'd planned to read something else first, but then the audiobook came available at my library and it was too tempting to put it off.

As a mom of a toddler, I love how audiobooks let me be present with my child while she plays or do household tasks while still reading.

Anyway, this book. It's sweet and romantic, absolutely hilarious, and yet also deals with the topic of domestic abuse in a really wonderful, gentle, kind way. The author clearly worked hard to ensure that readers understand that emotional abuse is just as serious and harmful as physical abuse. CW: this book has both on the page.

This was definitely a five-star read for me and one that I will be rereading.

A little gift to myself for today's accomplishment.

What accomplishment, you ask?

I submitted my application for my book coach certification to @authoraccelerator ๐ŸŽ‰

This is the culmination of 100s and 100s of hours of video lessons, readings, exercises, case studies, and three practicums with three real clients.

And I'm done, nearly 26 months after I started the program. The certification team will analyze my work โ€” including the feedback I gave my practicum clients โ€” and evaluate my skills as a book coach and developmental editor.

So now I wait for the results. No matter what happens now, I'm proud of the work I've done and what I've accomplished. I've learned a ton and confirmed my belief that this is the work I am meant to be doing. So I went to the bookstore and bought myself a new book and a pencil case. Because honestly, the thing bookish folk love most are new books and office supplies.

Thank you @kimfictional @brennabaileybooks and @mollyrook for being fabulous, encouraging, and wonderful practicum clients. Thank you for trusting me with your manuscripts. I love you all dearly and cannot wait to see your books on my bookshelf. โค๏ธ
Last. Now. Next.

LAST: I absolutely adored ASTRID PARKER DOESN'T FAIL. I read it in two days. I got very little else done. ๐Ÿ˜

NOW: I'm not a D&D player, but I know lots of fab folks who are and so many friends who also share my taste in books recommended LEGENDS & LATTES to me. I'm only a few chapters in and really liking it.

NEXT: A few of my mama friends expressed interest in starting a book club and MR. WRONG NUMBER is what we picked for our first read. I'm stoked to be a part of something that encourages moms of littles to do something for themselves for the pure enjoyment of it.
