Review

Another fun B.C.R. Fegan book with his fabulous rhyming and Lenny Wen’s adorable illustrations.

I read this book out loud. I couldn’t read it silently. It’s just too much fun. Good rhyming is hard to do, but Fegan does it fabulously. Some of the lines are silly, some are a little more straightforward, but all of them are fun.

A great book for kiddos learning their alphabet or learning to read.

The sentences are short, simple, and very descriptive.

And the illustrations! Lenny Wen does it again. Bright and colourful, the pages are full of curving lines and just enough detail to make you want to pause on the page and look longer so you can see all the elements. Each of the letters is a unique little monster with a visible personality. Kids will have a lot of fun imaging what each letter/monster might be like.

My only qualm about this book is that younger readers might not get the joke at the end. It’s cute and perfect for kids already in school, but younger ones might not have the reference or experience to understand it.
