Comics. Some people seriously underestimate the skill and time that go into creating cartoons, comic strips and comic books. And oh my goodness. They can be amazing.
Anatomy of Animals
is one of these beautiful books.
Here it is: ANATOMY OF ANIMALS!
The Highly Accurate & 100% Correct in Every Way guide to the animal kingdom! Only here will you learn important facts, like: Do crabs do well on Tinder? Do turtles work out? And is that platypus down to watch Gilmore Girls with you? (…HE IS.) Join Silver Reuben Award-winning cartoonist Dave Kellett as he gives you an absurd, but SCIENTIFICALLY SOUND tour of what animals are really like. (from sheldonstore.com)
The details in this book are amazing. Take a look at the watermarks and stains that have been added to make this brand new book like like a well-worn library book. The descriptions of the creatures are absolutely hilarious — super quirky and weird and laugh out loud funny.
I’ll be honest, I’m slightly biased towards the artists who made this book. I’ve met Dave Kellett a couple of times at Emerald City Comic Con and he is a super nice guy. And his colourist, Beth Morrell, is one of my closest friends. She was even in my wedding. When they told me they were making this book last year, I backed it on Kickstarter. Even though I like them a lot, if I didn’t like the book I wouldn’t be sharing about it with you here. Please know, this review is honest — I really do like this book!
