It’s June!? We’re half-way through 2018 already.

The last few months have disappeared on me. Between travelling in March for three weeks and then first trimester of pregnancy, I’ve been exhausted and in a strange state of weird time flux. Did you read that right? In case you missed it, a little bookworm is joining trishajennreads in November!

Because of my trip to New Zealand in March and early April, and coming home 9 weeks pregnant and super exhausted, I didn’t read a lot or blog a lot in the last few months. But, I’m finally getting my energy back and have started reading and blogging again. Also, if you ever have the chance to go to New Zealand, go. It’s gorgeous and the people are so friendly and Hobbiton is there. Need I say more?

What was in my March/April/May 2018 book haul?

This looks like a ton of books. And it is, but it’s also three months worth of books for review, audiobooks, garage sale books, and bookstore date finds.

What did I read in March/April/May?

  • Percy Jackson and the Olympians 1: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
  • My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows
  • The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl 1: Squirrel Meets World  by Shannon Hale and Dean Hale
  • Secondhand Heroes 1: Brother’s Unite by Justin LaRocca Hansen
  • Secondhand Heroes 2: In the Trenches by Justin LaRocca Hansen
  • Secondhand Heroes 3: The Last Battle by Justin LaRocca Hansen
  • Wilderness Brides 2: Anna’s Heart by Peggy L. Henderson (audio)
  • The Josephine Knot by Meg Braem
  • Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick (audio)
  • Don’t Ever Look Behind Door 32 by B.C.R. Fegan
  • The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan
  • Lumberjanes Volume 6: Sink or Swim
  • Lumberjanes Volume 7: A Bird’s-Eye View

Click the links in this list for reviews. More reviews are coming in the next few weeks too, so check back. I’ll try to remember to come back here and link them.

All in all, at the end of May, I’ve read 35 books this year, putting me at 35% toward my Goodreads goal of 100 books in 2018. I have no idea if I’ll actually accomplish this goal – especially with the big life change coming up. But, I’m enjoying my progress. I’m behind, but I’ve got some beach vacation time coming up and that will hopefully give me a good bump up closer to the goal.

In case you missed it

March, April, and May were definitely lighter months on trishajennreads. But there were still some fun posts.

Book Reviews

Along with the book reviews linked above, I reviewed an adorable kids book called My Pet Wants a Pet and another super cute one called Be a Good Dragon that’s all about being sick (and getting better).

I also reviewed a fun superhero-focused middle grade book called The Super Life of Ben Braver.

Did you see the YA fantasy book reviews including a book about a tiny town in which each person gets a wish on their 18th birthday, As You Wish, and  the most recent instalment in Sarah J. Maas’ Throne of Glass Series Tower of Dawn. If you’re into beautiful books, Pashmina is a gorgeous graphic novel set in the USA and India.

And, on top of all that, I also shared a review and giveaway of a historical cozy mystery called the Darling Dahlia’s and the Unlucky Clover

Do any of these books strike your fancy?

Top Ten Tuesday

I’m a big fan of Top Ten Tuesday. It’s such a fun meme that always surprises me – both with the fun provided topics to write about and the intriguing lists and book suggestions that the other bloggers come up with. Although I don’t participate every week, I try to do at least a few each month. These last few months, I joined for the following topics. Take a gander if you haven’t read them yet.

Random Bookish Topics

I’m trying to add a little more variety to my blog schedule by finding other random topics to write about. What did you think of the post on Books by the Stars of How I Met Your Mother?

I also joined Bout of Books again! Have you ever done a read-a-thon?

What’s Next?

I’m determined to get back into a regular blogging rhythm again. Expect two-three posts a week for the next while. As we get closer to this kiddo arriving, things may change, but for now I’m going to try to get stuff written and scheduled ahead a little. We shall see how that goes.

What about you? What have you been reading? Do you have any blog posts you think I’d enjoy? Link them in the comments.

Happy reading, friends!

trishajennreads' black glasses

  1. You’ve been doing great this year! Honestly, I found I read a lot when the kids were babies since they eat and sleep a lot. lol. I’m so happy you read My Lady Jane! I adored that book! I listed to the audiobook, which was narrated by Katherine Kellgren and it was fantastic. I’m so sad she won’t be able to narrate My Plain Jane – I can’t wait to read that one!

    • I’m hoping I’ll be able to read lots once baby arrives, so I’m glad to hear you read lots then. I tried the audiobook of My Lady Jane but couldn’t finish it before it auto-returned to my library. I really enjoyed it as an ebook though.
