It’s been a while. A long while.
My blogging goal this year was to be consistent with a few posts a week and to read 100 books over the course of 2018. Well, after the last month and a half, I’m not only 6 books behind schedule on my reading goal, but also I haven’t actually read a book or blogged in more than six weeks.
And… because of this:
In case it’s not clear in the photo, the books my husband and I are holding are Hop on Pop and Are You My Mother?.
Don’t get it?
I’ll give you a minute. 🙂
That’s right! trishajennreads is growing! We’ll become a family of three in November.
First, to everyone who is waiting for reviews from me on the books that you so generously sent, I’m so, so sorry for the delay in getting those written and posted.
The first trimester is rough. Although I’m grateful I haven’t been sick, I have been utterly exhausted. As I said above, I haven’t been able to read anything except for scrolling through Twitter for a few minutes at a time. My usual bedtime over the last few months has been between 7:30 and 8:30 pm.
It turns out, working full-time and growing a human being takes a lot of energy and leaves little left for anything else.
Second, to my lovely readers, I’m sorry that I’ve been silent for so long. Even posting on social media has been daunting.
I had posts scheduled throughout the entirety of my three-week trip to New Zealand in March, with the goal to draft and schedule more on the long weekend after I returned home. But, alas, finding out I was pregnant a week before my trip and then having symptoms hit with a gale-force on the trip kind of derailed that plan.
Hello, second trimester! I’m back, baby!
With the onset of the second trimester, I’ve been told I should be getting my energy back. I’m starting to feel it…a little. But, I’m encouraged and determined to get back to reading and blogging.
What better time to let you in on my news, than on Mother’s Day?
I have two amazing mamas in my life.
My mom, who is the most generous person I know. She is absolutely thrilled to have another little person called her Grams (and managed to keep the secret to herself for nearly a month – I’m so proud of you, Mama!).
And my mother-in-law, who is so full of joy that it infuses the world and people around her. This will be the first little person to call her Grandma and I’m so honoured to give her that gift.
The content of trishajennreads may change a little in the coming months.
I’m still determined to read the books that interest me. There’s a lot of YA, MG, and romance on my TBR right now. Expect reviews, my friends.
With my journey into motherhood, though, I’m anticipating a few more board books, picture books, and probably some more lifestyle posts about the things I’m learning and experiencing. If there’s anything you’d like to read about, please let me know.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Fun fact: All those Dr. Seuss books belonged to my husband when he was a little boy!
