At the end of December I wrote a post about last year’s goals and how I didn’t meet most of them… This year, my goals are a lot simpler and less specific to make them, hopefully, easier to meet and more flexible as the year and life happens.
Today’s Top Ten Tuesday Topic:
1. Read 100 books.
2. Read the books I already own.
3. Be intentional about seeking out and reading books by diverse authors and about diverse characters.
4. Regularly read and comment on other blogs.
And that’s it.
Last year, I read 89. This year, I’m upping it to encourage myself to read more shorter books too – there are some amazing short books out there (like this list of books you can listen to in a single workout). I’ve set my goal Goodreads and 50 Book Pledge to track my progress.
I’ve also signed up for Nori’s (ReadWriteLove) Commenting 365 Challenge to comment on 365 blogs in 2018. Even if I don’t meet the goal of 365, if I build a habit of commenting on other blogs, I will consider it a success.
I haven’t set numbers for reading the books I own or diverse authors/characters. Why? Because as much as reading two owned books or two diverse reads for every new book purchased would be a worthy goal, it would set boundaries around my reading that I know would be restrictive to me. There are days when I one book calls to me and another simply doesn’t appeal at that moment. The next day, it could be the opposite. So, I will keep these goals in mind as I stand in front of my bookshelf to choose y next read, but I won’t set myself goals that will make me wish I could read something else.
What are your 2018 bookish goals?
