I wrote a Winter TBR not too long ago. I’ve managed to actually stick somewhat to it… I’ve read 5 of the 10 books… But, I’m reading other books because they are library books, or exciting reads that I’ve just discovered, that kind of thing. And, like many readers, my reading tends to swing around with my mood. Sometimes, you just don’t feel like reading a certain style of book. Sometimes, you just need to read something else for a bit.

what happened by Hillary Rodham ClintonNon-fiction (in print): What Happened by Hillary Rodham Clinton

I’ve been waiting for this book to become available at my library for months. I’m so excited that it’s here. I’m a little ways into this book (I picked it up on Sunday) and am really enjoying this insight into this amazing woman. Whatever you think of her personally, her career has been incredible and her poise in the face of so many terrible words and stories over the last few years has been inspiring. She has inspired so many women and girls. I’m stoked to read her memoir about the craziest political episode I’ve ever witnessed.

Renegades by Marissa MeyerNovel (in audio): Renegades by Marissa Meyer

I started listening to this nearly a month ago but couldn’t get into it. I think I was just too distracted (I was driving in a snowstorm, I think). I’ve been meaning to try starting it again – perhaps while soaking in a bubble bath so I can focus on the story a little more closely and really get sucked in.

Rhett & Link's Book of Mythicality: A Field Guide to Curiosity, Creativity, and TomfooleryNon-fiction (in print): Rhett & Link’s Book of Mythicality: A Field Guide to Curiosity, Creativity, and Tomfoolery by Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal

The hubs and I are slowly reading through this, one chapter at a time, a few days a week. It’s been a lot of fun to read aloud together.

jane graphic novelGraphic Novel (in print): Jane by Aline McKenna, Ramón K. Pérez (illustrator)

This gorgeous adaptation of Jane Eyre is lovely. The art is gorgeous. The story is so neat. It’s an interesting contemporary retelling and I think Aline did a pretty good job. I know I’ll be breaking this one open again soon — the art is just too gorgeous to not look at often. And… I may need to do a reread of Jane Eyre soon too.

real friends by Shannon HaleGraphic Novel (in print): Real Friends by Shannon Hale, LeUyen Pham (illustrator)

This book was lovely. I’ll admit, it was a little difficult to read. This book is a memoir written for kids about what it’s like to be a lonely kid, a bullied kid, a kid without a lot of friends. It brought up some memories from when I was a kid. But it also had some great examples of how kids can help each other, and how things aren’t always quite what they seem. I’ve seen this book around social media  lot and I think it’s definitely one that could go under the tree for a ton of kids this Christmas.

brightwood by tania unsworthNovel (in print): Brightwood by Tania Unsworth

I won an ARC of this on in a Goodreads giveaway last year and completely forgot to read it! It got lost in my TBR pile and I’ve found it again and realized that I still want to read it and I still want to review it. So, it will come up next after the intense political memoir I’m reading. I think some middle grade will be just what I need.
