I am completely off track from the Fall TBR I wrote in September. Oh well! I’ve found a few more books i that I really want to read, so my TBR is shuffling as usual. 🙂

Novel (in print): Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst

I got this book in a subscription box last December. I was very excited about it then and I finally picked it up last week. It’s really interesting and I’m hoping to have more time to dig into it this week. It’s the story of Denna, a princess who is sent off to a different kingdom to marry the prince that she’s been betrothed to since childhood. His sister, Mare, is forced to teach Denna how to ride the kingdom’s formidable war horses. Neither girl is keen on the situation, and yet despite their relationship’s bumpy start, it blossoms into something incredibly strong.

Renegades by Marissa MeyerNovel (in audio): Renegades by Marissa Meyer

I loved the Lunar Chronicles, so when I saw Renegades was available in audio I nabbed it with this month’s credit. I just started listening to it on the weekend and it’s intense! It’s very different, and feels a little darker than the Lunar Chronicles books, but I’m excited to see where it goes.

Rhett & Link's Book of Mythicality: A Field Guide to Curiosity, Creativity, and TomfooleryNon-fiction (in print): Rhett & Link’s Book of Mythicality: A Field Guide to Curiosity, Creativity, and Tomfoolery by Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal

My husband and I love watching these guys in their YouTube show Good Mythical Morning. So, when we saw their book at the store and I had a gift card, we had to buy it. We’ve been slowly reading it together, one chapter at a time, out loud for the last week or so. So many giggles guys. And belly laughs. Oh goodness, this book is hilarious.

and then there were none by agatha christie

Novel (in digital): And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

I didn’t love this one. I’m sorry to say it, but I haven’t loved any Agatha Christie books that I’ve read. It was interesting and I loved the ending, but while reading it I got quite confused. There were a LOT of characters to keep track of.

What do you think you’ll read next?

the wishing spell by chris colferNovel (in print): The Wishing Spell (The Land of Stories #1) by Chris Colfer

I’ve seen this series popping up in stores and online for a while and my library hold finally came in, so I’m diving in. I’m loving a lot of middle grade books these days, and I think this one might be perfect for me. “The Land of Stories tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner. Through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, they leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with the fairy tale characters they grew up reading about.” (Goodreads)

  1. I just read The Riddle of Three-Way Creek by Ridgwell Cullum Published in 1925. A man is saved from starvation in the B.C. interior. He sets up a ranch to rescue other down and outers from all kinds of backgrounds that went wrong. Including a sweet innocent girl who was raped. Quite avant guarde for the time.
I don’t believe in reading 21st Century things into an old book like this. However, I am happy to read that the crunchy moral code that we imagine was so oppressive was actually being humanised even then.

  2. Oooo, how is Renegades?! I can’t wait to check it out!

    What are you currently reading?
REPUBLIC OF THIEVES!! And it’s fricking amazing. I would give anything to write like Scott Lynch, holy wow. I’m about… 60% done it? Also re-reading Prisoner of Azakban. 😀

What did you recently finish reading?
    Chamber of Secrets!

What do you think you’ll read next?
Probably Goblet of Fire! XD And not sure, but maybe the next one in the Infernal Devices (by Cassndra Clare) series, or something else entirely. I have a lot of books on my shelf calling my name. ;D

  3. Oh I hope I like And Then There Were None … I just ordered a copy a few weeks ago! I saw that Rhett and Link book the other day and almost bought it … I’ll have to have a closer look the next time I see it. I love funny non-fiction books!
