I spent the weekend in a gorgeous cabin in the mountains. My hubs and I sat by the roaring fire with our books. I finished two books and started a third. It was lovely.

I read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom earlier this year and adored them. When I saw this book for cheap on Book Outlet I had to get it. I’m so enjoying jumping back into this world. I’m about 80% in and it is super exciting. I’m definitely going to need to find the other two books in the series.

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi LeeNovel (in audio): The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

I started this one last week and was really enjoying it. But I’ve put it on pause for the time being until I have a week of all-by-myself commutes. I’m very excited to dive back in. It’s seriously hilarious.

READ THIS. I loved, loved, loved this book. Between work and life it took me far longer to read it than I expected, but when I finally got to read it I fell in love. High School girls standing up for themselves, developing solid friendships, stepping out of their comfort zones, fighting patriarchy. Gosh, I love it. I adored THUG, and this is a fantastic book to put next to it on the shelf – battle racism, battle the patriarchy.

You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins

Novel (in print): You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins

I read this book in one day. That’s right. In front of the fire, next to the hubs, the whole book in one day. It is a saga that follows the lives of a family of women from immigrating to the USA, growing up in the States, getting married, and having children, and then their daughters growing up. It deals with culture, identity, jealousy, racism, dreams, friendship, romance. It’s a smooth, easy read. I already want to read it again.

and then there were none by agatha christie

Novel (in digital): And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

I’ve had this book on my Kobo for ages. I’ve heard so many good things about it and have been meaning to read it for so long. So, it’s up next. I’ve been reading a lot of print books lately, so I’m going to take a little while and read a few ebooks that I keep forgetting I have. Agatha Christie is a master storyteller. I can’t wait.

I’m slowly making progress on my Fall TBR…even if I’ve made a few deviations… 🙂
