Welcome to September! I love autumn. The crisp air, the changing leaves, the scarves, the boots. The cozy bookstore and coffee shop dates… 🙂
August was a crazy busy month for me: we went camping, I went to a writing conference, my office moved, we went to the zoo. But, I still managed to do a ton of reading – thanks to audiobooks and graphic novels.
What was in my August 2017 book haul?

Whew! That’s a lot of books. It might be one of my busiest book months yet.
At the end of August, I’ve read 64 books this year. That puts me 85% of the way to my goal of 75 books in 2017. I moved 16% closer to my goal this month by reading 12 books.
Audio books were a huge part of my month. With the nice weather I did a lot of lunchtime walking so I was able to listen to them quite for a lot more time than my usual commute.
I’m also partway through The Girl Who Drank the Moon and, as I mentioned in this week’s WWW Wednesday, I’m not sure if I’ll finish it. It’s beautifully written and narrated, but it’s just not holding my attention. I don’t care a lot about the characters, which makes it easy to leave that book aside.
I also started Unmentionable: The Victorian Lady’s Guide to Sex, Marriage, and Manners and as interesting and entertaining as it was, it came due back at the library and, as usual with non-fiction books, I didn’t feel the desire to renew it and finish reading it. So, I DNF’d it and returned it to the library for the next person in line to enjoy.
In case you missed it

Along with the month’s book reviews, I joined a blog tour for a historical novel called Casanova’s Secret Wife and participated in Bout of Books Read-a-thon. If you missed it, take a look at my Bout of Books 20 Sign Up post, my Bout of Books TBR post (that I totally did not follow at all. :D), and see how I did in my Bout of Books 20 Progress report.

My favourite post from last month was probably my new monthly feature: Beautiful Books. I wrote about one of my absolutely favourite picture books The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore and included lots of photos for your viewing pleasure. I’m planning on featuring one beautiful book each month. If you have suggestions, please let me know in the comments.
Are you ready for autumn? I am!

Thank you!! 😊 I’m so glad I dove back in to Giant Days. I read the first one years ago and finally continued reading. Now I need the rest of them!
