My TBR keeps growing and growing. And there are a lot of series on it that I’ve been meaning to start, have heard lots about, may even have on my shelf, but that I have not yet read. Here are a few of them. (Click the book cover to head over to Goodreads for a synopsis of the first book in each series.)

1. His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman

the golden compass by philip pullman

I’ve had this series on my shelf for a year! I picked up a lovely set of them at a charity book sale last spring and keep meaning to read them. They aren’t even that big. I hope to pick them up soon.

2. The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

The first book in this series has been on my shelf for probably two years. I found a hardcover copy in a $10 bin and snatched it up. I’d been eyeing it for months, and really wanted to read it. But it’s big. It’s a little intimidating. So, I haven’t read it (or the other two books in the trilogy).

3. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

This series has popped up in my bookish social media feeds for years. I keep seeing it. I keep meaning to check it out. And, for some reason, I haven’t. I wonder why that is…

4. The Grisha Trilogy/Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

loved Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom. The world of the Grisha is so fascinating and so full of exciting action. Since I finished Crooked Kingdom, I’ve been wanting to dive into where that world began.

5. Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb

assassin's apprentice by robin hobb

Robin Hobb is an author that I’ve heard about but have never read. I had the chance to hear her on a panel at Emerald City ComicCon earlier this year and then meet her and get a signed book – Assassin’s Apprentice  – the first book in this series. I’m bringing it on my summer vacation next month. Here’s to finally reading a staple of the fantasy genre!

6. The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman

I don’t remember where I discovered this series but it’s in my Goodreads list. It sounds like a lot of fun – secret agents who harvest fiction from different realities? Yes, please!

7. Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab

a darker shade of magic by v.e. schwab

I’ve followed Victoria/V.E. Schwab on Twitter for ages and I really like her. She is honest and she is funny. I’ve yet to read any of her books though, despite hearing a lot of amazing things about them. This series has three parallel Londons! It sounds so cool.

8. Monsters of Verity by Victoria Schwab

These are written under V.E. Scwab’s other handle, and also sound really neat. Who doesn’t love a story that centres around an unlikely duo?

9. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Sabaa is another author who constantly pops up in my social media feeds. Her books look really, really interesting and action-packed and are set in what sounds like an incredibly intricate world.

10. The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

the eye of the world

This series is a serious staple of High Fantasy. A good friend of mine loved these books when she was a teen. She read her way through all of them (I think there are 12…). Robert Jordan died before could finish the last book, so Brandon Sanderson stepped in to complete it. It was so long it ended up being three volumes. This is a super intimidating beast of a series, but one day I will attempt it. The complete series is only $130 on Kindle…It’s over 12,000 pages!

Whew! Those are a few of the series on my list. Hopefully I’ll get to a few of them this year.

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

    • You’ve read nearly everything on my list! 🙂 I’m not sure how long it will take me to get to them all, but eventually I’ll read them. Cheers!

  1. The Wheel of Time series is on my TTT as well. Shadow and Bone would have been on mine as my number 1 but I just started and read the first book last week. Now I am eager to read the rest of the series! His Dark Materiels in another one I have been wanting to get to. I hope you get the chance to start one of these soon and that you love it! Happy reading!
