Initially, I’d planned to do a WWW Wednesday post every week. Now I’m down to about once a month. Is this a post you’d like to see more of? Please let me know in the comments.
I haven’t been reading a ton lately. There have been days where I just haven’t felt like reading (strange, I know). But, life gets crazy sometimes and that’s normal. Plus, I’ve got a vacation coming up next month that will amp up my reading (hello, beach!).

Novel (in print): The Life and Deaths of Blanche Nero by Ken Brigham
I received this book for review. It’s intense. Melancholy. Solemn. But very interesting. It took me a while to get into it. It’s probably not a book I would have just picked up. But I’m glad I signed up for the upcoming blog tour. Once I’m reading it, I’m sucked in. I want to know what happened in the years between when 15-year-old Blanche watched her father’s execution and the now 60-year-old Blanche who is in Venice befriending an old man dying of AIDS while trying to discover where she came from.
Novel (in audio): The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler
I started this book ages ago and have been dipping in and out of it ever since. I’ve only got about an hour left and an intrigued to see how it all comes together. This book is creepy. But also so, so interesting. The narrative switches between two interconnected stories. Present-day Simon has a really old book filled with weird stories and images of tarot cards. And ,the name of his grandmother. He’s determined to use the book to figure out the mystery behind the drownings of the women in his family – and make sure nothing happens to his sister. Mr. Peabody and his troupe of travelling performers include a mute wild boy, a mermaid, an old fortune teller, and an acrobat. But they might just be cursed. I’m glad I’ve stuck with this book and I’m excited to see how it ends.

Novel (in print): History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera
This book was an emotional rollercoaster. Griffin’s best friend, first love, and ex-boyfriend Theo died while away at college. Grief hits Griffin hard. Adding it onto the tough stuff of high school, obsessive compulsive disorder, and the fact that the only person who seems to understand what he’s going through is Jackson, Theo’s new boyfriend makes it even more painful. I very much enjoyed this book, cried a lot, and cringed at Griffin’s choices. It had a satisfying ending though, which always helps. I’m definitely planning on reading more of Adam Silvera.

Play (in print): Redheaded Stepchild by Johnnie Walker
I love the cover of this script. And the synopsis sounds like a very relevant (and hopefully entertaining) story: Nicholas is a twelve-year-old with red hair whose dad just remarried. His new stepmom is a chain-smoking, ex-Jehovah’s Witness. Tomorrow at lunch, the biggest boy in grade six plans to beat him up—he even made a Facebook event. Should Nicholas skip school, even if it means missing the chance to audition for the class play and impress his English teacher?
