We’re over a week into Tome Topple and I’m pleased to say I’ve managed to topple one tome. I haven’t, as of this writing, started my next tome though.
If you don’t know what Tome Topple is, read my Tome Topple 2017 TBR post for a full explanation and a list of the books I plan on reading.
What have I read?
I reread A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas last week. I’m rereading it to prepare for the new book, A Court of Wings and Ruin, which comes out on May 2, 2017.
This book completes challenge number three: Read a tome that’s part of a series.
How Much did I read?
Day 1: 75 pages
Day 2: 130 pages
Day 3: 87 pages
Day 4: 136 pages
Day 5: 112 pages
Day 6: 0 pages
Day 7: 84 pages
Day 8: 0 pages
Total so far: 624 pages!
Day 9: We’ll see how many pages I read tonight!
I did have two days with no reading. Crazy, I know. On Day 6, I was planning on finishing the book on my lunchtime-reading-break, but realized I’d signed up for a webinar about writing that fell over my lunch hour. And yesterday, well, my long weekend ended up starting off with a ton of housework that reeaallly needed to get done. And now it is Saturday night – and I WILL READ.

What will I read next?
Once I’ve finished typing up this blog post, I will start reading The Luminaries by Elenaor Catton. It won a Governor General’s Literary Award and The Man Booker Prize in 2013. It’s going to be a very different read from A Court of Mist and Fury. I’m excited for that. I like mixing up my reading every once in a while.
This book will complete challenge number five: Read an adult novel.
Kristilyn (Reading In Winter) says:
I keep wondering if I should check out The Luminaries … I’ve heard good things about it! And you just reminded me that I have the audiobook for A Court of Mist and Fury! I’ll definitely have to do a reread with it in the next week or so before the next book comes out. I LOVED that one! I think I’ll manage two books for Tome Topple … one audiobook and one physical book, but nearly 1,800 pages!
Trisha says:
I’m only about 100 pages into The Luminaries. It’s beautifully written and I can tell it’s a very complex story, but it is a much denser read than I’m used to these days. It’s written in the style of the setting, 1860s.
