May 2, 2017

This is the day we have been waiting for.

The day that a A Court of Wings and Ruin becomes available.

I am eager.

I will be ready.

April 2017 = rereading ACOTAR & ACOMAF

I read the first two books in this series last year. A Court of Thorns and Roses was a unique reimagining of the Beauty and the Beast story.  A Court of Mist and Fury really brought this series into its own. I loved it.

And now, as I prepare for book three to be released, I will not risk coming back to this series with holes in my memory bank. I am going to reread these books. All 1047 pages. I will be ready. I will be able to leap into ACOWAR the moment I pick it up from the store on release day, and have no awkward moments of “I don’t remember”.

These books wrecked me a little.

They are by no means perfect. No book is. But, I enjoyed them. A lot. They sucked me in. They tossed me around. And then, they spit me out onto the sidewalk, my insides all mangled up and mucky.

I’m intrigued to see what my experience of them is like the second time around. Will I be as enthralled as I was the first time? Will I notice more plot holes or strange things or foreshadowing? Will I like the characters as much? Will I still like the writing style?

Last time I read these, I was only three months into reading Sarah J. Maas. I’d only read Throne of Glass and The Assassin’s Blade. Since then, I’ve ready every book she has written. I’ve gotten more used to her writing style. I’ve also started to notice quirks that I don’t really like. But, that might just be because I read a lot of ToG in one year and I’m ready for that story to come to it’s conclusion.

Who knows what my second experience of the A Court of Thorns and Roses books will be. All I know, is that I need to read it again.
