It’s WWW Wednesday!

Wanna know what I’ve been reading? I read A LOT last week! (Two whole audiobooks, guys! And I finished a fantasy novel. AND I read a graphic novel. CRAZY! I never read that much.

I guess this is what happens when my husband is away. I listen to audiobooks all the time! Cooking? Listening to an audiobook. Folding laundry? Listening to an audiobook. Driving? Listening to an audiobook. Curling my hair? Listening to an audiobook.

The Three W’s are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

I’ve just started this book and it’s full of emotion already. I’m so intrigued by Monsieur Perdu and his story. How did he end up this way? What happened in his past? Who did he love and where did she go? What will spur him on to start his adventure (that is alluded to in the synopsis)? I think this books will be a lovely refresher after so much intense fantasy.

This book was a wild ride! I fell in love with the whole crew, but the tension between Kaz and Inej and was wonderful. It was exhilarating, really. I felt the constant need to keep checking in with them to see if they would communicate with each other. And Matthias and Nina and Jesper and Wylan – I’m going to miss them. I very much enjoyed both Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom  and will definitely visit them again.

ready player one by ernest clineAudio: Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

My husband loved this book and I’m so glad I grabbed the audiobook from my library! It is a nostalgic deep dive into video games, movies, music, and everything 1980s. But with a cool futuristic bent. Imagine a world where you can immerse yourself into a super cool virtual reality game, and even go to school there! Along with the adventure, the main character has a really fun voice and is a typical teenage boy with real feelings and a HUGE crush on a girl. Oh, and he’s in a life or death video game contest. So. Much. Fun.

Gwires and nerve volume 1 by marissa meyerraphic Novel: Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer

It was a lot of fun to jump back into the Lunar Chronicles universe. I enjoyed this book! For the most part, I liked the art style. BUT – the artist’s rendering of the Lunar Wolf Soldiers made me burst out laughing. They look like overgrown anthropomorphized hamsters! Ridiculous. I imagined them to be a lot more human looking, but with slightly shaggy hair, elongated faces and big canine teeth. I did not picture them covered in fur with little round noses and pointy ears. Other than that though, this book is definitely a fun read.

someday someday maybe by lauren grahamAudio: Someday, Someday, Maybe  by Lauren Graham

I’ve had this book on my audio wish list for ages. And it finally came in at the library. I absolutely love listening to audio books that read by their authors. And Lauren Graham did not disappoint. This novel was fun, quirky, emotional, and a fantastic addition to my commute last week. Fanny Banks is trying to make it as an actress in 1990’s New York. She’s hilarious. And…unable to see what’s right in front of her. I laughed a lot while listening to this book.

Novel (in print): A Court of Thorns and Roses  by Sarah J. Maas

Book Three is coming out in just over a month. I have been planning a reread of both ACOTAR and ACOMAF since I first read them last May. This is another world that I’m stoked to jump back into and experience again. Come back on Friday to read more about why I’m rereading these books.

    • Haha, sorry to point it out to you! I really enjoyed the story and the characterizations. I just didn’t love that part of the art style.

  1. I really need to read Ready Player One, but would prefer it in ebook format and not audiobook and my library only offers it in audiobook. But yes, I’ve heard it’s really fun and I need to go find it. Maybe they have it in print.

Also,, I’ve heard awesome things about a Court of Thorns and Roses!

Here’s my WWW post for you. Thanks for sharing your books!

    • Ready player one is such a fun read! Get your hands on it in whatever format you can find. 🙂 And yes, A Court of Thorns and Roses is pretty good. The sequel, A Court of Mist and Fury is even better. I definitely recommend!
