So what is the Love-a-Thon?

The Love-a-Thon is an event dedicated to spreading positivity and love. It’s time dedicated to visiting other bloggers/Instagrammers/BookTubers, leaving a comment or two, making new friends and fostering positivity among the members of our amazing community. As in the previous years, the event will include mini challenges, Twitter chats and giveaways galore!

This year’s Love-a-Thon is hosted by Alexa of Alexa Loves Books, Cee of The Novel Hermit, Hazel of Stay Bookish, Mel of The Daily Prophecy. You can find a list of all participating bloggers/Instagrammers/BookTubers on their blogs.

I discovered the Love-a-Thon on Twitter today. I read Melanie’s post on It’s a Bookish Thing 13, and immediately had to sign up. This is such a cool event and I’m so stoked to meet other bloggers and book lovers out there.

Without further ado, here is my introductory questionnaire:

1. What’s your name?

My name is Trisha Jenn Loehr. I don’t actually go by Trisha Jenn in real life, but I like the way it looks (and sounds in my head) when my whole name is written out in full. So, I decided that my online and freelance persona would include my middle name

2. Where in the world are you blogging from?

I’m blogging from Calgary, Alberta, Canada

3. How did you get into blogging in the first place?

I started blogging years ago (2010 I think) when I finished university. I wanted a way to keep writing and a way to debrief from books I was reading and the thoughts that were being spawned by what I read.

4. How did you come up with your blog name?

My blog name has changed over the years, but now that it’s called trishajennreads, I’m sticking with it. I don’t really remember where it came from. It is my name and what I do. It’s pretty simple and I like the way it looks. I think my email address came first, then my Twitter handle and my blog, then my Instagram account. I think… but don’t quote me. I honestly can’t remember.

5. What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?

I started by discussing classics. Then I changed to discussing whatever I happened to be reading. Then my blog morphed into a combined reading, bookishness, and writing and editing blog. And now I’ve just started reviewing books again and I seem to be reading mostly YA and contemporary. But again, I read a lot of different genres and so I talk about them all.

6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?

I write posts about reading, writing, and editing. I’m also a freelance writer/editor and a communications professional, so I use my blog to talk about those topics too. I also post my new bookish designs on my blog.

7. Best blogging experience so far?

When my twin brother checked out my website for the first time and told me how great he thought it was. It filled me with all kinds of warm fuzzies. And then he pointed out a typo and my editor heart shrunk a size in embarrassment…

8. Favorite thing about the blogging community?

I absolutely love the passion. Everyone is so passionate about the books and authors and stories that they love. It’s wonderful.

9. Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2016!

Stars Above by Marissa Meyer
Heartless by Marissa Meyer
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by JK Rowling
The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson
Unleash the Storm by Annette Marie

10. Name the 5 books you want to read this 2016 that you didn’t get to in previous years!

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson (on hold at the library!)
Crown of Midnight (and the rest of the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas (on hold at the library too!)
Yield the Night by Annette Marie
The Witch’s Daughter by Paula Brackston
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

11. Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?

Uhhh… this is a super hard question. Right now, can Willowdean Dickson from Julie Murphy’s Dumplin’ be my BFF? She’s hilarious! And super brave.

12. Which book boy or girl would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend?

I know it’s cliche… but I’m a P&P fan and have always been in love with Mr. Darcy.

13. Who would you recruit for your apocalypse squad (5 characters max)?

Kvothe from Kingkiller Chronicles and Celaena Sardothien from Throne of Glass. Although I’m sure they would hate each other.

14. Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?

I’m a writer who one days wants to be able to pay my bills by writing, so I try to spend time writing. I also create bookish designs, as I mentioned above. And I binge watch netflix with my hubs, spend way too much time scrolling through social media, and try to get out snowboarding, hiking, and camping a few times a year.

15. Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?

I love clothes. There are so many pretty clothes.

16. At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing?

Hmmm…I never remember the names of songs…I do love Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. That was my wedding song. My husband picked it. I love him.

17. Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.

I want to see a movie of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Oooo… or The Lunar Chronicles books by Marissa Meyer–they could have a cool Firefly vibe going on!

18. What would your dream library look like?

Belle’s library from Beauty and the Beast. Hands down.

29. Author you want to meet and sit down to tea with?

Rainbow Rowell. I’ve fallen in love with her books and her characters. I’d love to chat with her about her favourite books, her inspirations, and how she moves from one standalone novel to another.

Whew! That was a doozy! I hope you enjoyed getting to know me. If you’re participating in love-a-thon, give me a shout. Let’s be friends!

  1. Hello,
hope you get to read the rest of the Throne of Glass series soon I love this series so much! Also I agree The Lunar Chronicles books by Marissa Meyer would be such a cool movie (or maybe a TV series, although not sure I could wait for a new episode each week)!

    • Trisha Jenn Loehr says:

I’m trying to behave and get books from the library rather than always buying them but it’s so hard! I love owning the books and being able to run my fingers along the beauty of stocked bookshelves. As for LC as a tv show, I agree! Waiting would be so hard. Maybe if they made it a Netflix series and released all eps on one day?

      • I would love to be able to rely on my library for book but they never seem to have whole series and defiantly never have the latest books, so I end up buying most of mine (running out of room on my bookcases fast!)

  2. Ahhh I would love to see Fangirl & Lunar Chronicles be turned into movies, that would be so much fun!!!
It’s so cool that you do bookish designs, I can’t wait to see your creations!
Mr. Darcy is PERFECTION. (Have you seen Pride & Prejudice & Zombies yet? I loved it, surprisingly)
Beautiful job with the blog! <3

    • Trisha Jenn Loehr says:

You’re too sweet!!! Thank you so much.

How is P&P and Zombies? I’ve been wary to see it or read it… I’m not a huge fan of gore and I REALLY love the class P&P and that world.

      • I LOVED the movie, but haven’t read the book. I usually don’t like anything to do with zombies, or anything gory, but this movie surprised me, it was really good! The “nasty”/gory parts weren’t too bad, and if they ever got disgusting, I just looked away. I enjoyed it a lot, and can’t wait to see it again!

  3. Yeeee, so glad you can join us, Trisha Jenn! When people you know personally are super impressed with your site, it is one of the greatest feeling in the world.

Willowdean is frickin’ amazing. She is just so admirable. I wish I could do half the things she could do because she has so much strength.

  4. Hi Trisha, lovely to meet you! OH GOODNESS. The Heart of Betrayal was SO good, and I fell in love with the series solely because of that book. I also really look forward to you reading the rest of the Throne of Glass series. If you need someone to chat with about either, I am always up for it on Twitter! Glad you could join us for the Love-a-Thon 😀

    • Trisha Jenn Loehr says:

Hi Alexa! Great to meet you!! I loved Kiss of Deception, so I’m stoked for Heart of Betrayal. I will definitely come find you online when I’ve read it or anymore Throne of Glass books. 🙂

    • Trisha Jenn Loehr says:

Haha, I’m so bad at song names. I danced growing up and always called songs by the dance name. 😛 And THANK YOU! The designs are a fun way to get my creative juices going when I have writer’s block.

  5. Stars Above was a really enjoyable read! I’d only read one of the short stories before , so it was a lot of really neat, new background. And there was, of course, the wedding…

  6. I’m so disappointed in myself for not picking Kvothe for my apocalypse squad! That’s such a good idea. And yay! Mr Darcy <3

So glad I got to meet you this past weekend! Let's keep in touch!
