Earlier this week, my boss sent the link to this fabulous infographic to our office.

I fell in love with it instantly.

If you’ve spent any time on my blog or talked with me about writing you’ll know that I’ve developed quite the passion for plain language.

I’m a communicator. My job is to write and edit and help others communicate clearly. I often have to explain to folks that not everyone has their same knowledge of issues, topics, and field specific language. I also have to explain that communicating for the sake of communicating isn’t the smartest way to do it. That you must think about your audience and what they know, want, and need. Writing is about your reader; it’s not about you and making yourself sound smart.

The below infographic by EAB will be a useful tool in my arsenal for my writing and for working with clients. I hope it’s helpful for you too.
