“Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.” –Maya Angelou
Some people judge others by what they read. Some people speak poorly of certain kinds of books. Some people discourage children from reading things like comics or graphic novels or mysteries because they aren’t quality literature.
I agree with Maya Angelou.
Any book a child (or an adult) chooses to read that makes them want to read more is a good book for them. Allowing children to read what they are interested is the best way to help them learn to love reading.
Go ahead, read what you enjoy.
If it’s romance, if it’s YA, if it’s thrillers, if it’s horror. Read it. Never be ashamed of what you enjoy reading.
